Label Peelers is a Great Store!
I first bought from Label Peelerts in the summer of 2023 when I bought Oregon blueberry puree from them. They were the cheapest>Even with shipping, they were cheaper than Amazon. The order shipped the next day. Even more impressive was the date of packaging printed by the supplier. It was fresh!
I had gathered the wrong impression, apparently, from their name that they specialized in close-outs, remnant buying, or bulk supplies from bankruptcy auctions. I’ve ordered the occasional yeast packet or other ingredients, all well-priced and fresh.
My next epiphany was the realization that they weren’t a discount store for all sorts of merchandise. They just sell beer and wine-making equipment and ingredients.
Fresh Ingredients
We bought a Brewer’s Best Imperial Pale Ale recipe kit from them. The total, including shipping, was $53.27. The same kit on Amazon is $51.49. Spend an extra buck and a half to help a smaller company? Heck ya!
Here’s the kicker. We bought a Brewer’s Best Continental Pilsner recipe kit from Amazon and the liquid malt extract was just 6 months from expiration. The LME from Label Peelers was almost a full year away from expiration.
Better Prices
As they say on their About Us page; “We love what we do, selling homebrew and wine making supplies for a living, not a killing.“
I will say this. As someone with a long history of direct marketing, they are really good marketers. I got an email from them recently touting a sale on beer bottles. The price for a case of 12 oz amber beer bottles seemed great. That was until I did a quick online search and found that their ‘sale’ wasn’t much better than regular prices elsewhere.
Label Peelers does carry a line of their own recipe kits. The prices range from the low $40s to the low $50s and that includes yeast. Most other shops charge extra for yeast.
Like anything else, do your shopping.
I’ve become a fan and not just for the occasional ingredient.
