Adventures in Homebrewing (AIH) started with a retail shop in Detroit in 1999.
Jason Smith was the founder and operated a couple of retail shops as well as online sales. In 2022 he sold to Blackstreet Capital Holdings, the same company that owns Northern Brewer, Midwest Supplies, and Austin Homebrew Supply.
I bought regularly from AIH but they are starting to look more and more like the mother ship, Northern Brewer. I will still buy from them occasionally. They have a few seasonal recipes that I hope they keep.
So far, it does seem the original recipes exclusive to AIH have remained.
Pricing, when including shipping, is all over the place.
It is our opinion that if you shop at Northern Brewer, open a new tab to AIH. Even though you are buying from the same company, they offer different promotions, discounts, and free shipping offers throughout the year.
Compare the two cart totals, including ship costs and promotional discounts, and buy from whomever is the lowest.

AIH has a 4.7 rating with 9,743 reviews on Judge.me. It took some digging to find them but we discovered AIH has 34 reviews with a 4.6 average rating. You can view Adventures in Homebrewing Google Reviews here.
I struggle with buying from a store owned by a large corporation, especially when the homebrewing hobby is such a community. I have them ranked at #5 in our top 10 rankings mostly because of their selection and prices. If you prefer to buy from a true friend or family-run operation, consider More Beer or Jasper’s Home Brew Supply.
