My dog, Kolsch, woke up one morning, came out from under the sheets, yawned, and it sounded like he said ”mango’. What a great idea, a mango Kolsch!

I have tested various fruit purees, cocoa nibs, dried sweet orange peel, spice blends, etc. Using mango puree in my secondary is the secret sauce.
I use a basic Kolsch 5-gallon recipe kit and use SafAle K-97 German ale dry yeast. I add one 50-ounce (2 pounds) package of Oregon mango puree when I rack to the secondary. The result is a refreshing kolsch ale with a subtle tropical mango flavor.
My mango Kolsch is a neighborhood favorite that is lucky to make it through a weekend.
This was an extract recipe that I bought on Amazon from Brewer’s Best. Brewer’s Best is one of our top 10 online recipe outlets. I like their recipe kits for the price and convenience. Their kits include yeast, bottle caps, and priming sugar. All of which are traditionally extra at other online stores.
The last time I bought this kit on Amazon, my cost (with Prime free shipping) was $41.69, or $0.87 per bottle. The cost of the mango puree is rising each year. I paid $24 in the spring of 2026. That put the overall total at $65.69, or $1.37 per bottle.
