Miller High Life Clone Recipe – A crisp, refreshing American Adjunct Lager that mimics the iconic light body and subtle corn sweetness of the original. Designed for drinkability and a bright, clean finish.
Fermentables
8 oz Carapils (Steep at 155°F for 30 minutes for head retention)
4 lbs Extra Light Dry Malt Extract (Base fermentable)
1 lb Corn Syrup (Dextrose) (Added at boil to increase ABV while keeping body light)
Hops Schedule
0.50 oz Cluster (7% AA) @ 60 min (Bittering)
0.50 oz Hallertau Mittelfruh (4% AA) @ 15 min (Flavor)
Yeast
Fermentis SafLager W-34/70 – Classic German lager strain for clean, crisp profiles. Requires temperature control.
Instructions
1Heat 2.5 gallons of water to 155°F and steep the crushed Carapils grain in a mesh bag for 30
minutes. Do not let the water temperature get above 170°F.
2Remove the grain bag and bring water to a boil.
3Turn off the heat and stir in the dry malt extract and corn syrup, ensuring it is fully dissolved.
4Return to a boil and add the 0.5 oz Cluster hops.
5With 15 minutes remaining, add the Hallertau Mittelfruh hops and clarifier (Irish Moss or Whirlfloc tablet)
6At flameout, chill the wort as rapidly as possible to 80°F.
7Transfer to a sanitized fermenter, top up to 5.5 gallons with cold filtered water, and aerate well.
8Pitch yeast and seal with an airlock.
Notes
Fermentation – Temperature: 50-55°F
Duration: 3 weeks primary, 4 weeks lagering at 35°F. Perform a diacetyl rest by raising temp to 68°F for the final 3 days of primary fermentation before lagering.
