PROS:
- Huge selection of recipe kits
- They have some clone recipe kits exclusive to them
- Great reputation
- A lot of resources, videos, and educational material
- Almost 4,000 Google reviews with a 4.8-star average rating
CONS:
- It appears they are omitting bad reviews on the site.
- Their minimum order for free shipping seems to increase frequently.
- Their latest checkout revisions seem a bit heavy-handed. They really push the one-step checkout options.
The Details:
More Beer is based in California, but they do have 2 fulfillment warehouses. One is just outside the San Francisco-Oakland metro, and the other is in Kansas.
The 3 owners started in 1995 and have quite a history. You can read more about it here.
The Kansas warehouse makes it a shorter trip for those of us east of the Mississippi. That is especially helpful in the summer months with fewer travel days for temperature-sensitive liquid yeasts.
More Beer is one of the biggest online beer supply stores.
Northern Brewer seems to get more traffic, but More Beer is considered one of the leaders for selling to homebrewers.
Their prices are pretty good; they have frequent promotions, they have a great selection, and their customer service has been great anytime we have needed to reach out to them.
Shipping is a flat rate of $12.99 for orders under $79.
Their website does have a lot of information. They are very experienced brewers and discuss a lot of what I would consider more advanced home brewing techniques and equipment.
More Beer Google Reviews
As of recently, More Beer has a total of 3,797 Google reviews with a 4.8-star rating. You can read More Beer Google reviews here. One thing you need to check out is their YouTube Channel. They do a lot of videos. They have fun doing them. It is also obvious they shouldn’t quit their day jobs.
They are always on the cutting edge of equipment for the home brewer. Much of it is focused on all-grain brewing or kegging. Home brewing can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. I’m still a humble extract home brewer and bottling my batches.
More Beer is one of our top 10 online beer supply stores. But, like anything else, do your comparison shopping. There are many times I have had similar recipes or other items in my cart at more than one store to compare total prices, including shipping. You can save a few bucks here and there by doing that.
