The Details
BrewDemon debuted in 2012. They offer 1- and 2-gallon beer recipes along with starter kits with the basic equipment needed.
BrewDemon also sells hard seltzer, hard soda, hard cider, and regular soda pop recipes. They also sell a variety of seasonal recipes.
Brewdemon Selection is Small
Our biggest issue is the limited selection of beer recipes and the fact that they have no 5-gallon recipes. You’ll be lucky to get 10 bottles (12 oz) of beer from a 1-gallon recipe. That will barely cover a long weekend for me.
They only offer 4 1-gallon beer recipes and just 20 2-gallon recipes. That’s a limited selection.
Of course, that is the reason they were started in the first place. As the Founder Sam Dramis explains on their About Us page, “I liked the idea of making smaller batches of beer, but all the cool equipment was geared to 5-gallon brewing and up“.
The page further explains the desire to have a canonical fermenter for smaller batches. They engineered their own BrewDemon 2-gallon conical fermenting system, which includes the world’s first 2-gallon conical fermenter (patent pending).
BrewDemon Online Reviews
The online reviews we saw were generally positive, with some praising the quality, while others recommended alternatives.
BrewDemon Ranking
At a 3.9 overall rating based on our criteria, Brewdemon comes in at #8 of our top online beer supply stores.
They would be ranked higher if they offered more recipe options than 24, 2-gallon kits.
BrewDemon Conclusion
If you want to start home brewing and hesitate to invest too much time or money, getting into this hobby with smaller batches makes sense. With BrewDemon recipe kits under $30 for 2 gallons, it’s tempting. Their prices for the 2-gallon starter kits range from $110 up to $190. That’s getting into the same cost as 5-gallon starter kits.
Just shop around. Today there are numerous options for both equipment and recipes for smaller batches.
